Yes It’s True You Can Get a Treadmill Desk for the Office
A treadmill desk is for those that work at a sedentary desk job all day long that doesn’t require any physical activity. There are an ever growing number of office workers that just sit for eight hours straight five days a week.
Sitting All Day is Unhealthy
There has been some research done that indicates that those who sit the most die the soonest. People that sit for eleven hours or more each day are as much as 40% more likely to die over the next 3 years whether or not they are physically active according to a new study. People who sit for hours on end in an office are much more likely to get cardiovascular disease and other health complications than others whose jobs require that they get up and move around. Sitting for long periods slows the rate that we burn calories, reduces our good cholesterol and make insulin less effective leading to epidemic of diabetes and obesity in America.
In addition to all this sitting at work, when a lot of people go home after working for all those long hours then they wind up sitting in front of the TV for extended hours on top of that contributing even more to this problem of inactivity. We simply are not made to sit around, we need to move and be active. This sedentary inactive lifestyle leads to many health problems in society.
A Treadmill Desk for Office Fitness
If you have a desk job what can you do about it? It’s not always easy to change jobs but is a unique solution in the treadmill desk. Yes it is actually a desk workstation that incorporates the use of a treadmill and can have your computer, desk phone, office supplies and everything that your regular office desk has minus the chair. The idea behind it is that you can walk slowly while doing your office job but you are up and moving, your blood is circulating, your health risks are greatly reduced and you are getting your work done and will also have more energy. What a great idea!
At first it may seem odd but you set your speed to about 2 or 3 miles per hour which is just a slow walking speed. After a while you will get so used to it, you’ll be answering the phone, typing emails and not even realize you are on the treadmill. As you get conditioned to this it gets easier and more comfortable. You don’t have to do it all day just several times throughout the day. You can also just use it as a standing desk without the treadmill moving and also use a chair. The best thing is to mix up all three ways of using the treadmill desk.
Great Benefits of the Treadmill Desk
When people use the treadmill desk they find that they lose weight because they are burning some calories as opposed to none just sitting, they get their muscles toned up and when you exercise you always have much more energy throughout the day instead of those mid-day slumps in energy. The treadmill desk is also much better for your back. Extended sitting produces poor posture and contributes to back pain. If you don’t have the time or ability to get up and move around at your job then a treadmill desk will allow you to move and get your work done at the same time.
A treadmill desk will greatly improve your health, make you lose weight, is good for your back and posture and will help you to be more productive at work and at home. J79GM9X8KAYZ
I personally like the LifeBalance Station (http://www.lifebalancestation.com/) better. I prefer being able to sit down while typing and trying to read throughout the day. It still gives me a great way to exercise and pedal throughout the day at my desk.
